LDP channel on YouTube
January 25, 2008 5:06 PM
The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan has established a channel of its own on YouTube.

According to an article titled “LDP starts communication with the world through its official YouTube channel [jp]”:
The channel will offer video messages from Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, his explanation on his policies, and videos that would show the personal side of the party members.
I don’t know why they named it “LDP channel”. LDP is an English name for the party and Japanese voters are unfamiliar with it. They should have named it “Jiminto channel”. (Jiminto means LDP in Japanese).
In the video below, LDP multimedia chief Taro Kono explains the purpose of setting up the channel: “We are planning to upload many videos on the channel that would show the personalities of LDP members. ”.
You can embed the videos, too (see above).
The LDP channel is the first brand channel set up by a political party on jp.YouTube.com. Already 16 videos are up and running on the channel, but it remains to be seen if they can keep utilizing the new media...
