Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music to launch a new major in Animation

A national university -- Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music -- is adding a new graduate course in Animation to its Graduate School of Film and New Media.

Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music (President: Ryohei Miyata) announced on 4th December to add a new course in Animation (master's course, admission capacity 16) to its Graduate School of Film and New Media located in Yokohama starting from next April.
The course will be focused on practical work, aiming at nurturing talented individuals who can lead the animation industry.
The faculty will be composed of four professors including Yuichi Ito, director of clay animation "KNYACKI!", and Koji Yamamoto, who is known as a creator of the short-animation movie "Mt. HEAD (Atama Yama)", which was highly acclaimed in both national and international film festivals.

It should be exciting to study under such leading-edge creators.
In the Graduate School of Film and New Media, movie directors Takeshi Kitano and Kiyoshi Kurosawa have also been teaching to film major students as professors.
