When I was watching "TOKYOBOY" by MXTV, KNIGHTS(the Japanese comic duo) was exploring Ikebukuro on that program. And Doraemon house was introduced there.
It is like living in a closet. Young people are living in Japanese-style rooms. The room size is from one to two tatami-mat room. (one tatami is 180cm x 90cm).
It is called, "Convenient House" formally. These houses are placed near the station of Roppongi, Kameari, Ikebukuro, Toritsudai, and Tabata. You can live there for around 30,000 yen for a month.
I thought it looked like a dormitory, but the catch phrase was "a dormitory with a private room key".
On that program, convenient house in Ikebukuro had a two-story house with 18 rooms. No Rooms Available. This house includes an common room and shower, and PC room. There were comments such as "there are two women and they may be treated like a princess." and "even if I come back to this house lately, there is somebody here."

I feel that only one and a half tatami room is narrow, but two and a half will be decent for living. But if stuffs increase, it will be difficult. I do not hate such a room.
If you are a keen traveller having an experinece of using a dormitory, you feel comfortable to stay there.
Despite that, monthly fee is 30,000 yen. There are 18rooms. So it comes to a grand total of 540,000 yen for a month. What a unique business comes out !
