From the article "The average time spent on Nico Nico Douga exceeds Yahoo! and Mixi[jp]":
The average time per visit per user on "Nico Nico Douga" exceeds that of Yahoo! Japan (3 hours and 5 minutes) and Mixi (2 hours and 52 minutes).
People tend to spend longer time on online trade sites, but among genral websites, Yahoo! and Mixi are the top runners.
Surprisingly, "Nico Nico Douga" overtook the two despite the fact that it requires user registration to watch videos posted on the site. Astonishing.
The average number of visits per user for August was 8.8, exceeding 5.2 of YouTube. In addition, average time spent on the site by each visitor was 3:14:11(hh:mm:ss), surpassing that on YouTube (1:00:25) by a factor of more than three.
Nico Nico Douga even outstripped another video sharing site, YouTube.
Why? One reason might be that Nico Nico Douga has more interesting videos than YouTube. I don't know, but that's what I think.
Nico Nico Douga urges people to watch videos, write comments, share feelings, and have fun. There's a virtuous cycle.
(Nico Nico Douga) also has a great potential as an EC site by letting users put affiliate ads of goods related to the videos, making it one of the most-watched services for video-related businesses.
In one sense, selecting a matching ad for a video is an art. Sometimes, the combination is enough to give me a little chuckle.
