Tools for updating blog sidebars

Curiously, two tools for updating blog sidebars -- COTOBACO and Atara -- were released at around the same time.

COTOBACO has miniblog-like features, so people might consider it as a Tumblr clone, but no, they are not.

I've clearly heard from Modersyn --- a guy who developed this tool -- that "this is a tool to update sidebars".
So, COTOBACO is a tool to update blog sidebars. You can easily update blog sidebars using their application or bookmarklet.
Another tool is Atara. If you go to their web site, you'll see the catch --- "Add your What's New!!".

Obviously, this is a tool to update "What's New!!" area of blog sidebars.
When you have little information, memo, or whatever to say but not that important to make a blog post, you might want to put them on the siderbar of your blog.
If you are using, say Movable Type, you can display these information using MT tags, but for those using hosting-type blog services, adding these information on blog sidebars are not that easy. In that case, these tools might come in handy.
Anyway, they were released at the same time, and I feel some mysterious synchronicity is going on here....
